An areola reconstruction tattoo, also called a 3D areola tattoo is a specialized form of medical tattooing used to recreate the appearance of the nipple and the areola, often after mastectomy or breast reconstruction surgery.

Through the use of carefully selected pigments, shading highlights, and realistic detail, the illusion of a natural looking nipple is created. This can be used to improve symmetry or appearance of existing areola after surgery or injury.
